That's what I always hope anyway, but no matter what I do, every year is pretty much the same. That was the cheerful little thought that passed through my head when the song of the day came up on my iPod this morning:
A Long December, by the Counting Crows.
So on Christmas I watched Julie & Julia. It was a nice movie, and the theme seemed to be figuring out what you love to do and doing it. I felt like I had alot in common with Julie: bored, unfulfilling career, aimless... you get the picture.
Julie loved cooking, and I love art--painting, drawing, making jewelry, etc. Except I'm usually too tired and unmotivated do anything about it. But I think I really need to start being creative again. It makes me happy, or at the very least, it provides a temporary distraction from the unhappy reality I live in.
My company has a little "art corner" where employees can display their artwork (after their portfolio has been approved by HR, of course, LOL). I've decided I'm going to come up with enough pieces to submit a portfolio for consideration.
This is New Year's goal #1.
I've posted artwork on this blog before, but unfortunately, most of my best work is in the possession of other people, and I'm not likely to get it back. So I'll be starting from scratch.
I'm mentioning it here to so that I will be accountable.
Anyway, with 3 days left in the year, here's hoping that 2010 is better year for everyone than 2009 was. And that the "Teens" are an improvement over the "Noughties."

Just say no to being a man-ho
Because I really need a laugh, the song of the day is "You Don't Have to be a Prostitute" by Flight of the Conchords:
