It has now been one week since the surgery. I thought that since I am still relatively young, get alot of excerise and usually follow a healthy diet, I would be feeling soooo much better by now. But I don't--at least not as much as I thought I would.

Getting through this day was tough. My head felt so heavy that it was difficult to hold it up for long periods of time. It feels like there is a huge weight underneath my nose, and if I stand up for too long I'll fall over. My front teeth and my lips started feeling numb; chewing and talking felt strange, and there were some words I didn't pronounce correctly. It was embarrassing. My brain feels all foggy, and it's like I'm thinking more slowly than normal, because of all the pressure inside my head.
Strangest of all though, my hands felt heavy and stiff. WTF, right? When I would write anything, my handwriting came out looking strange and different than usual. Really disturbing. And no, I haven't taken any Darvocet since Tuesday, so it's not from that.
The first thing I did when I got to work was fill out a ton of paperwork so that I could use my actual sick leave to cover my absence, instead of wasting my vacation time. After filling out as many forms as someone who is requesting access to state secrets, I took them and my doctor's note down to HR to turn them in. I handed them to the secretary and asked her to look at them and make sure I'd filled them out correctly. She said I did. I went back to the lab and continued on with my day.
After lunch, I checked my time card to see if they'd taken care of my missed hours. Surprise surprise, they used my vacation time instead of my sick leave; even though I filled out all the damn forms. I sent an email to HR asking them why that happened (since going down and dealing with them in person is painful even when I'm not already in pain). I've yet to hear back. Just thinking about it makes my head feel even more likely to explode.
